Auckland hosted the final round of the National Series in the Hunua Ranges and put on a stunning weekend and fun track with plenty of jumps to finish up the series on. Nathan decided to sit the final round out and concentrate on the National Championships after injuring his thumb in a crash over the finish line in his race run at the Levin round so it was down to Kieran, Reuben and Lawrence to bring the team home some more great results for the weekend.

Lawrence quickly went to work on the short track and once again blitzed the junior field by several seconds and taking out of the overall national series title in the U19 class with maximum points after winning the last four rounds in seeding and finals!

The elite class was once again stacked with just about all of New Zealands top riders and Kieran showed he can still be competitive with them all finishing up the day in 6th only around 1 second away from the top three, this landed him 5th overall for the series and even after missing the final round Nathan snuck into 6th overall! Reuben was on fire over the entire weekend but unfortunately some small mistakes in his final run on the short course saw him slip back to 13th but even so he finished up with enough points to put him in 7th overall meaning the Elite side of the team took 1/3rd of the top ten overall!

National Championships was held in the always fun Whakarewarewa Forest in Rotorua on a mixture of one of the classic downhill tracks along with some brand new fresh sections thrown into the mix to add some extra challenge in the chase for the championship jersey.

Being Lawrence’s home town he was definitely being tipped as the favorite for the U19 championship and was riding great but had a bit of a surprise during seeding as he was narrowly pipped for the top time heading into the finals, showing his skill and beyond his years maturity on the bike though he dug deep on his final run and put together another great run to take out his first National Championship! Lawrence will now wear the New Zealand sleve on his race top at all International events as he heads to Europe this year to chase the new Junior World Cup series.

Kieran’s weekend ended prematurely during seeding as a big crash half way down the track left him with a badly bruised hip and damaged ligaments in his thumb.

Nathan and Reuben were once again stacked closely together in the tight field finishing up in 8th and 9th respectively to carry on the theme of the team staying nicely in the top 10!

These were the final events for everyone racing together and it has been another fantastic season for the team although the racing is far from over with everyone heading to their own home towns to continue racing locally throughout the country.

Thanks again to all of you who have made this season a success, your help is greatly appreciated and we look forward to continue working with you all throughout the rest of the year and hopefully the future!
